September Brings New Opportunities for Ocean Fishing Below Cape Falcon:
Oregon anglers are in for a special treat. While the salmon season has been in full swing for a while, September marks the beginning of a unique opportunity: the ability to keep wild Coho and Chinook salmon!
A Significant Change in Regulations
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) has updated the regulations, allowing anglers to keep wild salmon—both Coho and Chinook—starting in September. This change is a significant shift from the earlier part of the season, where only fin-clipped (hatchery) fish could be harvested. Now, with this new rule in place, the fishing experience broadens, offering more chances to bring home these prized catches.
